Alle, Chairière and La Forêt are towns along the Semois river where the tobacco production once boomed in the 19th century. La Forêt is one of the most beautiful towns of Wallonia.Vresse is a town of
art, with many galleries. Between Membre and Bohan, the Semois flows between places of legend, where fairies and prehistory (w
ith a small Celtic castle) mix happily together.
The town of Bièvre has many brooks that are the right-side affluents of the Semois or the left-side affluents of the Our and the Lesse. The fountain "Saint-Fursy", that gave its name to a town, Bellefontaine, reminds us of a 14 centuries old pilgrimage.
The Houille and the Hulle are brooks that marked the frontier with France. We can find there the forest massive of "Croix de Scaille", at 500 m altitude. The 50 m high "Tour du Millénaire", built with Douglas Fir, indicates that this was a strategic place for the surveillance of the territory. The view on top of this tower is spectacular, with a 360 degree panorama that covers the Belgian French border.
