Our hotel industry offers a wide range of choices to meet the demands of discerning visitors: not surprisingly, perhaps, as Inn Keeping is one of the valley's oldest trades, one that hosted many famous people over the centuries - for instance Cardinal Mazarin when he temporarily withdrew from the French Court in the 17th Century.
For instance, fishing enthusiasts can enjoy peaceful campsites along the banks of the Semois in Mortehan, Cugnon, Auby, Bouillon, Poupehan and Laviot; while other campsites overhang the mists of the Semois higher on the plateau, either isolated, as at Mogimont, or nearer towns as at Bouillon, Corbion and Rochehaut.
In recent years, attractive rural accommodation has been created using ancient barns, 18th and 19th Century watermills and farms, generally in very calm places near the forest, the Semois, a stream or a pond. Several villagers have transformed a part of their home in order to accommodate tourists who are looking for a rural family atmosphere redolent of the "good old days" in the Ardennes.
